First visit

Your first visit will consist of a consultation and a treatment session as required, all on the same day at no extra charge.

Please note:

  • Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment and inform the staff at the counter of when you arrive
  • A parent/guardian must accompany patients under the age of 18 and provide consent
What to wear

There are no special requirements here although biomechanical appointments may require trouser legs to be rolled up to around the knees.

How long is the appointment?

Your appointment will last up to 30 minutes. Biomechanical assessments will be approximately an hour.

What should I expect during my treatment session?

After looking at your medical history the podiatrist will assess your feet and discuss with you any problems you may have.

The treatment needed will be explained to you to make sure you know what will be done and that you are happy with it.

You will be given advice and self-help tips on what you can do to help improve the health of your feet in between appointments.

Your foot wear and lifestyle may be taken into consideration so as to help form an individual treatment plan to suit each patient.

Towards the end the session you will have the option of having a specialist cream applied.

Do I need a referral?

No, this is not needed; however, if you have been referred and have a referral letter then please bring this along with you.

Cancelling an appointment

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you wish to cancel your appointment. There may be charge for late cancellations.

What if I feel embarrassed or nervous?

You really have no need to. You will not be asked to do or answer anything you feel uncomfortable with. Podiatrists are fully qualified health care practitioners specialising in problems with the feet. As a result they see can see a range of different problems throughout the day, some worse than others and any treatment that needs to be done will be explained to you first.

Patients of all ages are seen young and old, male and female. In fact most people find the appointments relaxing, sociable and walk out smiling.

“If you have any concerns by all means drop by for an informal chat and have a quick look around!”
